BRIGADES FOR THE AXOLOTL
We don't want hundreds of occasional volunteers. We want 40 truly committed people.
🚨 But we have another problem
For years, many environmental volunteer programs have worked like this: "Come on a Saturday, plant a tree and see you next year."
It's a nice activity. It's a nice photograph. But it doesn't necessarily transform an ecosystem.
An isolated action can hardly solve problems that have been developing for decades.
The wetland needs something different. It needs continuity. It needs people who know the projects, who know the territory, who come back, who learn, who get involved, who build relationships with the communities, who can take on responsibilities.
🔥 40 PEOPLE. 6 MONTHS. ONE CAUSE.
We're looking for 40 adults who preferably live in the south of Mexico City and who can commit for six months.
The commitment will be one day per week or one day every two weeks, depending on the profile and the project's needs.
We're not looking for free workers. We're looking for members of a conservation community.
Looking for volunteer paramedics and scout groups
If you have training in first aid or belong to a scout group, your support is essential for field brigades.

🌱 What will the brigades do?
⚖️ Defending is also a form of conservation
In Xochimilco there are problems that cannot be solved just by planting trees. We have to face bad practices that deteriorate the wetland.
Santuario Ajolote maintains a line of citizen and legal action to document environmental problems and demand responses from authorities.
That's why our brigades will also be able to learn about how to document an environmental problem, how to generate evidence, how to file a complaint, how to follow up on a request, and how to legally participate in territorial defense.
We don't just want people who observe the problem. We want citizens capable of acting.
🤝 What do you get in return?
Knowledge
We will share with you our experience in conservation, restoration, chinampas, axolotls, wetlands and community projects.
Experience
You will have the opportunity to participate directly in real environmental projects.
Community
You will meet researchers, students, producers, environmentalists, technicians and people who share your concern for the future of the wetland.
Purpose
Your work will have a concrete purpose: helping to protect the Mexican axolotl and its ecosystem.
And, of course, you will have access to some of the most extraordinary landscapes of Xochimilco. The last great living wetland of Mexico City. The chinampas, the canals, the birds, the ahuejotes, the sunrise. And, with a bit of luck, an axolotl.
